Tax rates vary widely among communities as do the services they include in those taxes.   New Providence, for example, provides trash pick up, fall leaf collection and bi-annual bulk collection in the taxes.   

 

It is incorrect to assume from the list above that Chatham Township has the lowest taxes, for example, on a house purchased for $650,000.  Rates are based on assessed value and some towns have lower values because they have not reassessed recently.
